Jammu, Oct 31: Jammu University is again in news-this time for illegal appointments. Sources told Early Times that Jammu University in 2008 had advertised the posts for security guards during the tenure of the then Vice Chancellor Amitabh Matoo for which thousands of applications were received. After scrutiny of applications nearly two hundred eligible candidates were called for physical fitness test, they said further adding that JU in a bid to appoint favourites sent call letters to the short listed candidates after 13 days of the fitness test. Sources said a candidate Mohan Lal son of Dev Raj had received a letter from JU for appearing in fitness test in the first week of March 2008 while the test was held on February 14, 2008 as the letter received No. Estab./08/3327-3526 dispatched on February 27, 2008 asking the candidates to appear in the fitness test for the post of security guards on February 14, 2008 at 1 pm in the ground near gymnasium hall, JU campus. Making a mockery of recruitment procedure, it was further mentioned in the letter that list of shortlisted candidates from fitness test would be displayed on February 20 on notice board of Gymnasium Hall. The short listed candidates, the letter urged them to bring a passport size photograph along at the time of interview. These instructions interestingly were issued at a time when the fitness test had already been held. |
