| Apex Court stays arrest warrants against Anita Thakur | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 31: Division Bench of the Supreme Court of India comprising JJ J.S. Radhakrishnan and A.K. Sikri stayed the arrest warrant issued against NPP leader and directed the J&K Police not to arrest Anita Thakur (General Secretary-JKNPP) against whom non-bailable warrants have been issued by Sub Judge Katra to arrest her and produce before the court on 1st November, 2013. According to press statement issued from New Delhi, Prof. Bhim Singh, Sr Advocate appearing for Anita Thakur submitted that police had raided the Panthers Party office in Jammu last evening in a bid to execute non-bailable warrants against Anita Thakur in a case registered by Katra Police dated 7th August, 2007. Prof Singh also informed the court that Supreme Court had already issued Rule nisi in December, 2010 in writ petition filed by Anita Thakur, H.C. Jalmeria, Advocate and P.K. Ganjoo seeking criminal action against the police high-ups who were responsible for assaulting and beating the petitioners on August 7, 2007 while they were leading a peaceful procession of Jammu Migrants from Reasi to Delhi in support of their demand to pay relief to the Jammu Migrants at par with Kashmiri Migrants as per apex court's directions in July 2006. A fresh Crl. MP was filed this morning which was heard by the Division Bench comprising JJ Mr. J.S. Radhakrishnan and A.K. Sikri and Court directed that the non-bailable warrants issued against Ms. Anita Thakur shall not be implemented till 1st November, 2013. |
