| Verma impresses upon farmers to adopt latest technologies | | | ET Report SAMBA, Oct 31: Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary to the Government, BPE, and Floriculture has impressed upon the farmers to adopt latest technologies to achieve self-sufficiency while interacting with the farmers, The Commissioner Secretary was on visit to floriculture fields in areas of Swankha Morh, Karalian and Vijaypur Areas of District Samba. Verma emphasized on the need to plan a cropping system which is economically remunerative ecologically sustainable & productive as well. He stressed upon the farmers to use modern technology and Agri-inputs could take the state towards the self sustainable in commercial Floriculture. Director Floriculture, Jammu KK Sharma who was accompanying the Principal Secretary during his visit to samba district, said that the during this festival season the major demand of Merigold flowers is catered by local production and area more than 3000 acres is covered under area expansion programme of floriculture department in the season. Tajinder Singh President J&K flower growers Association informed that City of temples is known as city of flowers now, due to the collective efforts of Stake holders, Association and Floriculture department and it is the best time for State Govt to provide industrial Status, necessary infrastructure and per mote Indo-Dutch programme for flowers bulbs propagation in our state.
