| Ex Minister Manjit Singh, others remember late 'Indira Gandhi' | | | early times report Vijaypur, Oct 31: Former minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh besides other local leaders paid homage to former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi on her 29th death anniversary in a somber memorial service organized here today in Vijaypur. Report from Vijaypur said that former minister Manjit Singh and other Congress activist in a memorial meeting garlanded portrait of late Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi and offered floral tributes to the great leader of the country. Speaking on this occasion, Singh in his tribute address said Smt Gandhi had sacrificed her life for the nation and its unity. "Her sacrifice would be remembered as a mark of secularism, socialism and unity in the country, he said. "Stating her as the leader of poor and down trodden," Singh said further adding that Indira Ji worked for the people irrespective of caste, religion or any other barrier and she has a great contribution in the country. Prominent among those who also paid floral tributes to late prime minister included Babal Gupta, Sarpanch Sukhjinder Singh Polla, Brij Pal Singh, Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Sarpanch natha Ram, Naib Sarpanch Sujan Singh, youth leader Pankaj Mohan, IYC vice president Chander Shekhar, Capt Baljit Singh and others.
