| Congress raises hollow slogans about 73rd amendment | | Toothless Panchayats | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 12: Terming Congress party as the biggest cheater, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today said that Congress party befooled thousands of village representatives by raising hollow slogans about the implementation of 73rd amendment. "Congress party indulged in lip-service only and this party never supported us practically. Both National Conference and Congress party leaders are sailing in the same boat. If NC is saying that Article 370 will get eroded by incorporating 73rd amendment then why it is silent over MGNREGA which is an act now," AJKPC said. Addressing a news conference in Srinagar, provincial president AJKPC, Bashir Ahmed Milik vowed to teach coalition partners NC and Congress a lesson in the coming assembly elections, which are due in 2014. "Coalition Government is responsible for the present problems faced by common people of Kashmir. Corruption and favouritism is rampant and there is no governance," he said adding that AJKPC is ready to support any group with clean image to uproot the present corrupt political parties of Jammu and Kashmir. Holding Congress party equally responsible for the hardships and miseries of village representatives, Malik clarified that the main hurdle in the empowerment of panchayats was only coalition government. "This is the government which made us scapegoats by conducting the panchayat election in the state to sell it against the Kashmir issue at the international market," he said. Without naming Panchayati Raj Minister, AJKPC said that why a particular Minister acted as mute spectator when it came to the implementation of MGNREGA which also eroded our special status. "The promises made by Rahul Gandhi to us proved to be hollow and hoax. "In Budgam, Gandhi announced that Rs 10 lakhs will be released for at least ten thousand Panchayats for their development but till date nothing concrete was done in this regard. All the political leaders including Chief Minister played deceptive politics and befooled us," he said adding that a delegation of AJKPC will discuss the corruption and other issues with Central leadership. |
