| Issueless NC intensifies its divisive campaign | | Modi phobia | | Rustam
JAMMU, Dec 12: The fast-growing popularity of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi across the country, including Jammu & Kashmir, has alarmed the communal, pro-autonomy and pro-separatist and anti-Jammu and anti-Ladakh the National Conference (NC), which has been, according to political pandits, "misruling" the state since January 2009 in collaboration with what Narendra Modi terms as the "Congress of termites". The "issueless" and "confused" NC leadership is alarmed and rattled to the extent that it has unleashed a no-holds-barred campaign to frighten the Muslims and polarize the society for vote bank politics. The worst part of the whole situation is that the owners of the Valley-based and sectarian NC have let loose their handful of Jammu-based non-Muslim agents and self-seekers to tarnish the image of the BJP and its PM candidate and vitiate the peaceful and secular atmosphere of Jammu province, known for liberal and progressive attitude and unflinching and unqualified faith in the mainstream politics. On Wednesday, two of the non-Muslim followers of their Valley-based masters went to the extent of accusing the BJP of creating fissures between different communities and sections and charged it with being mischievous. "Narendra Modi made a conscious bid to rake up sectarian issues during his recent visit to Jammu in order to trample our unity that is a big obstacle in his scheme of things and furthering communal agenda," they said while addressing a party convention at Rajouri in their desperate bid to deflect the people's attention away from the real issues and hide the failure of the state government to deliver on any front. On December 1, Narendra Modi had appealed to the nation to hold a comprehensive debate on Article 370 to find if it had helped or harmed the people of the state and reassured the massive gathering at the Lalkar Rally that the BJP would give up its age-old demand for abrogation of Article 370 if the votaries of this Article proved that it had benefited the people of the state and the nation. The non-Muslim agents of the NC not only condemned Narendra Modi whose only slogan is "India first" but also described the wall of hatred created by Article 370 as a bridge between Jammu & Kashmir and rest of the country completely ignoring what Farooq Abdullah had said in Jammu in June 1983 while addressing an election rally. Farooq Abdullah had said: "Article 370 is a temporary provision. It is dying and it will dye in course of time". In fact, Farooq Abdullah had endorsed the view of Jawaharlal Nehru that "Article 370 has eroded, the process of erosion is going on and we must allow it to go on". It has become customary with the NC leaders and others of their ilk in Kashmir and Jammu to misguide the innocent people of the state by misinterpreting Article 370 that has harmed the legitimate interests of all the communities, the Muslim community included, and hampered the process of democratization in the state and its complete integration into India. It is a matter of grave concern that these Jammu-based NC agents are outraging the deprived section of society, including Dalits, refugees from WP and POJK, Kashmir, Gujjars and Bake-rwals and other ST groups, the OBCs and the entire womenfolk by opposing the rational, national and pro-people demand for the repeal of Article 370. They will not succeed in their dubious game plan, as the people across the nation are slowly but surely understanding what this atrocious Article 370 means for the people, the nation and the state. |
