| Canal Road deprive of street lights, inviting major tragedy | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 3: The canal road, which is the part of the Jammu-Poonch National highway, is deprive of stret lights, which is inviting accidents at the outskirts of the winter capital of the state. The administration has forgotten to install street lights on one of the busiest roads in the outskirts of the city. The canal road has witnessed hundreds of accidents due to poor visibility during nights, but the administration is seems to be taking it for granted. "We see people losing their lives or getting injured in road accident on this road due to poor visibility, on almost every alternate day, but the no street light has been installed on this road,"said Sushil Mahajn, a shopkeeper on canal road. "After approaching many times the administration do not bother to install street light on on this road," he added. Due to poor visibility and reflection of light from the vehicle coming from the side during night many of the vehicle go off the road or get down in the Ranbir canal. On the other hand the residents of Canal Road also expressed resentment over the poor sanitation conditions in the area. Aarti Sharma, a house wife, residing at Canal road said that the area is stinking as heaps of garbage are seen laying in the locality for past many days. The residents further alleged that some of the areas where street lights are installed, are also lying defunct for last few month, while at many places the loose electric cables are posing threat to the residents. They urged the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities to get the same repaired immediately. |
