| Non ST category youth gets job on fake certificate | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 3: There has been no check in granting the Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates in Kashmir valley with Government unable to take action under law. Recently a Kulgam youth was appointed as teacher on production of ST certificate issued by Tehsildar Kulgam. The Sher Gojri dynasty falls under the clan of Chopans who rare cattle for selling milk and comes under the purview of other social caste (OSC). However, violating the norms and his official position the tehsildar Kulgam issued a Scheduled Tribe certificate in his favour which is issued to nomadic Gujjars and Bakerwals and Sher Gojri does not fall in this category. The youth got a Government job in Education Department thereby marring the chances of other youth of the community in this regard. The ST youth is since then running from pillar to post for justice but to no avail and the Government knowing fully that the tehsildar has violated his official position and played a fraud in issuing the ST certificate still goes scot free. The aggrieved ST youth has registered a case with Crime Branch Kashmir but no action has been taken so far. The enraged ST community has sought immediate cancellation of the certificate issued by the erring tehsildar. They further demanded probe into the issuance of ST certificates in Valley as there are apprehensions that more people might have been issued such certificates to non ST candidates. In an appeal to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah the members of ST community in Kashmir have sought his intervention in the matter to give justice to the people of the community. |
