| Ex Minister Manjit urges for one time settlement of refugees | | | ET Report
Vijaypur, Jan 8: Former Minister and senior Congress Manjit Singh today appealed Government to pass the package for one time settlement of displaced persons/refugees in the coming cabinet meeting. "The Government should not delay the process and pass the package in State Cabinet in the interest of the displaced persons who have been suffering since last six decades," Singh said here addressing people in village Pakhri of Ramgarh. Asking for consensus on the issue, Singh however added that no party should create any hurdle in the process of settlement and added that the displaced persons of 1965 and 1971 are State Subjects of J&K. He said that the displaced persons who have been allotted property should be given tenancy rights and the right is in the hands of State Government and also demanded the people living along the International Border should be given reservation since they have been facing difficulties in the border areas like people along Line of Control. He said that the Government has given reservation in various sectors to ALC people but ignored people along IB. |
