| Pedestrian crushed by boulder in Padder | | | ET Report
Kishtwar, Jan 8: Owing to alleged negligence on part of General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) working on up gradation of Gulabgard-Himachal Pradesh road in Kishtwar District, 40 year old identified by the local as Beer Singh son of Baghat Ram resident of Atholi Padder died after he cames under the influence of heavy boulder trigger due to execution of blasting carried out by the GREF authorities near Sohal village of Padder Tehsil in Kishtwar District. The people allege that the GREF officials working on the said road project did not take necessary steps to prevent loss of life and property at the time of blasting of rocks. They further said that the deceased was walking in the road side when the incident took place. "As soon as the people got information about the incident, large number of people from village Sohal and its adjoining areas rush to the spot and started search for the dead body of the deceased which plunged into deep gorge after being hit by the boulder", said an eye witness, adding that the body of the deceased has not been retrieved till last report came in. Police has also rushed to the spot and join the people in rescue operation; but the bad weather was hampering the rescue operation launched jointly by the people and police. The angry people demanded registration of an FIR against GREF officials for their negligence. |
