| CS stages protest demonstration against implementing PPP mode in hospitals | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 23 : Angered over implementation of PPP mode in Government Medical College (GMC) and Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Civil Society and Trade Associations today staged protest demonstration in the premises of Super Specialty Hospital Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, the Civil Society and Trade Association members said that in every partnership, loss or control was usually inevitable. "Public Private Partnership (PPP) more-or-less is a high-stake project concerning national infrastructure. Because of this, their implementation usually attracts media attention and political interest. Sometimes, politicians interfere with the implementation because of changing political considerations", they said, adding, "As with any contract between a public entity and a private firm, both partners are seeking to gain from the relationship. The public authority was looking to maximize the socio-economic profitability of public sector investment. They further said that the private sector operator was looking to maximize its financial profit without taking into consideration the quality & quantities. "Thus the consumer has to pay- for. PPP is a private business venture which was funded and operated through a partnership of government and private sector companies", they said. "The PPP mode will further deteriorate the health care facility in the state despite of improving as the poor patients cannot afford to be looted at the hands of private parties as these facilities are presently provided free of cost to the AA Y and BPL category patients", they said. |
