| Jammu, Jan 23 : J&K Government will have a "Vision Document" 2025 on School Education leading to an Education policy of its own to spell out main objectives, goals and implementation strategies to be pursued during this period with specific time-lines for each. This was disclosed here today by H K Singh, Secretary Education, at the "Interaction on State Education Policy" of the Expert Panel headed by Prof Farida khan, Member, National Minority Commission with members of the Expert Panel namely Masood Choudhary, Prof Rama Kant Agnihotri, Prof Rekha Choudhary, Prof A.G Madhosh, Dr Nandani Manjrekar, G.N Masudi, Jamal Kidwai, and Sonam Wangchuk. "It may be recalled the Govt. had on 28th July 2013 constituted State School Education Advisory Board in terms of Section 22 of the Jammu & Kashmir School Education Act 2002. In its very first meeting on 19th Sep 2013 under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, and then the said Advisory Board decided to go in for formulation of Education Policy for the State and constituted an Expert Panel for the purpose. The Expert Panel has also been assigned to address the issues of medium of instruction and usage of regional languages in the School Curriculum. Speaking on this occasion, H.K. Singh, Secretary Education stated that a consultative process shall be set in motion with a view to taking on board ideas, experiences, inputs and suggestions from the public at large and stake- holders like educationists, teachers, students, parents, NGOs, researchers, educational Institutions in particular. A power point presentation on "Educational Scenario in J&K" was given by the Advisor in School Education Department, Mohammad Rafi. Another presentation on "School Standards" was made by eminent Educationist, G.N Masudi. |
