Ventilators issue: SHRC issues notice to Secy H&ME

Jammu, Jan 23 : Taking cognizance on the complaint filed by Human Rights activist Deepak Sharma regarding the issue of non functional ventilators lying at Government Medical College Jammu, the double bench of State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) today issued notice to Secretary Health and Medical Education. The double bench of the rights panel comprising Rafiq Fida and S Amolak Singh (both members J&K State Human Rights Commission), expressed displeasure over the finding that out of total 28 ventilators available in Government Medical College, Jammu only 3 ventilators are in working condition for the last 3 years. "Terming it as the gross violation of fundamental right of 'Right to Health and Medicare of the people, the double bench of the Rights Commission issued notice to Secretary Health and Medical Education and Principal Government Medical College, Jammu to submit their report before the commission in the instant case. The commission fixed February 20, as the next date of hearing in the case.
