| People demand probe into death of lady at SKIMS | | | Et Report SRINAGAR, Jan 23: There is a brewing public resentment against the death of a middle aged woman in Soura medical Institute due to alleged doctors' negligence and the people have demanded a thorough probe into the matter failing which they will take to streets. According to Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwan,i a trade unionist and Peoples Conference (PC) district Ganderbal coordinator the doctors of the institute were responsible for the death of the woman who was admitted in the prestigious medical institute of the State on January 12 when she complained some pain in head and chest. Mir said the poor lady namely Shakeela Akhtar of Takia Pandach near Soura was admitted in the Hospital for treatment on January 12 and doctors discharged her next day saying she was all right and fine and there was nothing to worry. Her son Irfan Ahmed Beg said that on reaching home she again complained the pain in head, chest and other parts of the body and she was readmitted in emergency at Soura Medical Institute on January 15. As the poor lady was crying with pain the relatives insisted the doctors to get her MRI test done. After the MRI was conducted on lady it was found that she was suffering from a fatal tumor in brain. The lady remained in hospital for two days and died on January 18, said Beg who accused the doctors of total negligence and responsible for her death. The 22 year Irfan who had earlier lost his father is now all alone after the death of his mother now. He made an appeal to Chief Minister to order a thorough probe into the death of his mother. The people of Pandach and Ganderbal have also protested against the negligent death and demanded action against the erring doctors. They said if this will be the position and such treatment is meted to the patients in a prestigious medical institute like Soura what will be the condition in other hospitals of the State. Meanwhile various organisations have also come in open support to Irfan and demanded justice for him. The Peoples Conference (PC), Ganderabl Peoples Welfare Society, Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation and other organisations have warned to come to streets in case the thorough probe is not conducted in the matter and erring doctors are punished. They said that had the doctors on the very first day conducted the tests on poor lady she would have been saved. |
