Jammu, Feb 5: Several Rehbar-e-Talim teachers today injured after they were batoncharged by police, when the former were trying to take out protest rally from Press Club to civil secretariat in favour of their demands including regularization of their salaries. Under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Talim Teachers Forum, hundreds of teachers assembled at Press club and staged demonstration. In the form of procession, when they attempted to march towards civil secretariat, huge contingent of police force tried to stop them and later resorted to lathicharge. Several Rehbar-e-Talim teachers sustained injuries and were dragged into police bans and were put behind bars, according to press release of Rehbar-e-Talim teachers. Gazi Abdul Aziz, Basher Ahmed Dar, Farooq Tantray, Bopinder Singh, Nenu Latta, and Ashiq Rasol criticized the government for using force against peaceful protesters. The leaders stated that the government has been giving hollow assurances but so far not a demand has been fulfilled yet. They said that they were compelled by government to come on roads. They threatened to launch a massive agitation in coming days. |
