| Hurriyat doesn't want betterment of Jammu Muslims | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 5: The assertion by Jammu and its representatives in getting due share in the creation of new administrative units is evoking sharp reaction from separatists. Separatists , who call of J&K as one entity, but are practically confined to Kashmir have been visualizing it as an attempt to weaken the Islamic character of the State. The statement of Hurriyat Conference of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said new units were created in continuation of policy of discrimination against Kashmir. The statement is based on twisted facts and more on rhetoric than substance. Kashmir had always had major share in the development and other fields of the governance. Even chief minister Omar Abdullah had not shyed in having its preference for Kashmir than Jammu. Jammu region only has cultural and religious diversity unlike Kashmir which is more homogenous. In many areas of Jammu region Muslims have substantial population and in one or two districts they are in majority, though Hindu population is also substantial. So by calling the creation of new units as weakening the Islamic character also shows that Hurryiat is not interested in the development and growth of the Muslims of the Jammu region. It continues to believe in parochical make belief world of 'superiority'. It also shows its contempt for the Hindus of the Jammu region. The Separatists by giving communal colour to an administrative decision have proved the fact that radical thinking has coloured their vision and they would try to provoke communal tension in a manner it did in Amarnath land row citing same flimsy reason that Muslim identity is in danger. |
