| Migrants resent denial of RBA status | | | | JAMMU, Feb 5: The denial of Rural Backward Area (RBA) certificates to migrants from RBA areas from Valley by Government has generated a lot of resentment among the migrants in Valley. Hundreds of migrant youth and students this way were deprived of the career opportunities by the Government. Terming the decision totally illogical the migrant organisations have challenged the authenticity of the decision. Criticizing the Government the leaders of these organisations said that we have not left the Valley on our own but have been forced to flee from there by terrorists. ``We are leading an exiled life leaving all the movable and immovable property behind'' they added. ``We were forced to flee from Valley by the separatists and Pak agents to deprive the community of all the benefits '' said Kundan Kashmiri president Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC). The community is passing a miserable life here and it spent 20 years in pigeon holes and torn tents at various camps in Jammu and other parts, he added. He said how the economic status of any community will improve when it has been deprived of all basic facilities of life including movable and immovable property. The Government in last 24 years ignored thecommunity altogether in Government jobs while over three lakh people in the State were absorbed in this period in various Government departments by the successive governments, he added. He said hundreds of Pandit families have been deprived of the RBA benefits this way and the community will take up the issue with Human Rights Commission. Meanwhile various migrant families who have been deprived of the RBA status by the Government have demanded cancellation of their migrant cards and sanction of return package as they will return to their homes and heaths. ``We will enmass demand return package and go to our ancestral villages to live there so that we are not deprived of the benefits'', said Ram Kumar of a backward area in Malwan village of South Kashmir district of Kupwara. |
