Kathua, Feb 5: People of Marheen today welcomed Subash Chander Gupta Member Legislative Council (MLC) and President District Congress Committee for his extensive effort for giving Tehsil status along with CD block to Marheen.
In an impressive function joined by large number of people welcomed MLC Gupta who was visiting first time after granting the status of Tehsil long with CD Block to Marheen. People celebrated the occasion amid beating drums at the middle of Marheen Chowk.
Addressing the public, MLC Suabsh Chander Gupta said that after getting the status of Tehsil and CD block, the peace of development activities will automatically get fillip and public will get better facilities at their door step. "It is the joint efforts of the Coalition Government of the state and the union Government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh Prime Minister of India and Sonia Gandhi UPA Chairperson to improve the socio -economic status of the public particularly in rural areas," he added. Appreciating the decision of ruling alliance, he added that this decision of the Government indicates how much present Government is concerned for the betterment of public.
Bishan Dass sangra President Block Congress Committee, Prem Lal Ex Member Legislative Assembly appreciated move and said it is the fruit of constant effort of subash Chander Gupta who convinced the cabinet Sub Committee headed by Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand in this regard.
