EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Feb 5: Senior PDP leader, former minister and MLA Rajpora, Syed Bashir Ahmad today described the recent expansion of administrative units by the government is purely an election gimmick to hoodwink the public opinion. Addressing a press conference, PDP leader said, "the National Conference has completely lost its credibility and mandate to govern and thus it has come out with this ploy, which is brazenly a form of political corruption." Citing some examples of discrimination from his constituency, he said, "As for as my constituency, Rajpora, is concerned, we were invited for the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting held at DC Office Pulwama, where I had demanded two tehsils, four nayabats and four CD blocks for Kandi, backward and tribal areas which include: Drobgam, Shadimarag- Qasbayar, Abhama- Sangerwani, Rahmoo, Tahab, Lassipora Arihal and Rajpora. Besides this I demanded merger of Pakherpora, Chraripora, Karpora, Shankerpora, Mohanpora and Kanidagan from Budgam with Pulwama district." He said, "But it is unfortunate that the Cabinet Sub-Committee has totally ignored my demands and they have recommended one tehsil, two nayabats and one CD block for 57 panchayat halqas. While, at the same time, in another adjacent constituency, the committee has recommended four tehsils, four nayabats, one sub division and two CD blocks for only 47 panchayat halqas." He said that the government invitation was mere eye- wash to befool the people and it has gone ahead without taking me and my party into confidence/on board. "The government has not taken the aspirations of the people of my constituency seriously, I, therefore, will stand by them (people) and will fight to get the justice done democratically, he warned. |
