| Jandrah people protest against denial of Tehsil status | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 5 : Even after the claims of present government to satisfy the aspirations of people of each and every area with regard to creation of new administrative units, there are many pockets where residents are blaming coalition government for betraying them. Jandrah is one such area where the locals are up in arms against what they call an arbitrary decision of the state government in denying their area a Tehsil status. Residents of village Jandrah today expressed their anger by blocking main road of Jandrah-Manwal road. Raising slogans and holding black flags in their hands, hundreds of protesting villagers demanded tehsil status for Jandrah. The people of the area are on protest for the last three days. Protesters said that Jandrah deserves to be granted tehsil status however the present government didn't show any concern about aspirations of the locals. Protesters further said that from time to time they raised the issue of Tehsil status before the MLA and government but latest cabinet decision with the consent of Cabinet Sub Committee shows that all their efforts went all in vain. The locals warned that in case their demand is not fulfilled they will boycott the upcoming elections. |
