| Creation of administrative units welcome step but criteria questionable: Vakil | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 5 : Former Minister and Member AICC today said that creation of administrative units is a welcome step and a historical move but the manner and criteria adopted for the purpose is questionable. He said that some of the creations are for no reason which has dented the credibility of the Government as there was neither a demand nor a justified reason for such creations. He said that a good number of the proposed administrative units are only a burden on the exchequer and can't be laminated as a welfare measure but seems a haphazard and jumbled creation. Vakil added, creations were undoubtedly needed but in a precise and explicit manner that could have prevented the unnecessary burden on the state exchequer and preserved the sanctity of the creations. Former Minister said that CSC deserves appreciation for hard work and dedication but the report needs a review. He said that where only one Tehsil or a Block was needed multiple units have been created and in some cases distance is less than two kilometers which is beyond prudence. Vakil reiterated that for coming Lok Sabha election, if all seats in Kashmir Valley were surrendered to any particular party in the name of alliance or coalition it can prove disastrous for the party because Congress represents and means India in Kashmir. |
