Jammu, Feb 5: Secretary Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) Dalip Thussu today visited Rajiv Gandhi Sports Museum Trust (RGSMT) established by the Dr Ashutosh Sharma and appreciated his efforts, endeavor and achievements at Karan Nagar Extn. Jammu. This unique sports museum has been setup by Prof Ashutosh Sharma who has dedicated it to former prime minister Late Rajiv Gandhi who has been the spirit behind the successful conduct of IX ASIAN Games in 1982 at Delhi. During his visit, Dalip Thussu applauded the dedication and organizational skills of Prof Sharma towards promotion of sports in state which is indicated by the huge collection of Olympic and other sports memorabilia including various PINs, Medals, Moments and Photographs of top dignitaries of the country and the world over. After taking a round of the sports museum Dalip Thussu assured to allot a Hall in the new complex of State Sports Council so that people and sports men from all over the world and country visit the Museum which will make the Museum as Heritage. Earlier Prof Ashutosh, briefed the visitor about his 60 years long association with the field of sports at State, National and International levels and appealed him to provide a suitable place so that the sports collection of mementos, photographs and Olympic memorabilia could be preserved for the posterity as a heritage. He also informed that the museum has its website: www.rajivgandhisportsmuseum.ogr and visitors can see the collections. Several prominent sports personalities namely S Rangil Singh President J&K Olympic Association, Vijay Saraf Vice President Wushu Association of India, S Ravinder Singh, President J&K Cycle Association , S Sarwant Singh Association Secretary J&K Athletic Association , Vikas Gupta Joint Secretary Judo Federation and Rajan Sharma sports officer accompanied the Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) Dalip Thussu during his visit to Rajiv Gandhi Sports Museum Trust (RGSMT) at Karannagar Jammu.
Council withdraws recognition of 6 Associations Sports Reporter JAMMU, Feb 5: The autonomous sports body of J&K State Sports Council has withdrawn the recognition of six prominent state sports associations for not defying the directives. These six sports associations are in the disciplines of Basketball, Roller Skating, Swimming, Body Building, Softball and Kayaking and Canoeing. Majority of these Associations have been disaffiliated on account of their failure to submit the audited reports of the funds released in their favour by the Sports Council. It has been reliably learnt that soon after a decision in this regard was taken by the State Sports Council, the concerned Federations at the national level were informed of the action accordingly. Already black-listed for their failure to hold the domestic activities, the recognition in favour of J&K Basketball Association withdrawn for want of audit reports for three successive years. Action against the Roller Skating Association was taken for similar reasons. Other four Associations of Swimming, Body Building, Softball and Kayaking and Canoeing were disaffiliated for not submitting the audited reports for two successive years against the funds released from the Council. "A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the Standing Committee held in August last and formal orders in this regard were issued in the recent past," on being approached, Joint Secretary of State Sports Council, Siddharth Sharma confirmed. Meanwhile, the informed sources disclosed that those Association separated from its fold by the Sports Council may not be able to get any king of financial assistance as also approval to the certificates received for participations at the national level competitions.
Noble Hearts students bring laurels Sports Reporter JAMMU, Feb 5: Students of the Noble Hearts School, Udeywala, here brought laurels to the institution winning four medals, including a silver, in the just concluded State Taekwando Championship. Trained by school coach, Gurwinder Singh, Harshita of fourth standard bagged silver while Arshi Handoo, (class IV), Sneha Sharma (class III) and Arooj Handoo (class Ist) secured bronze medals in their respective categories. Sakshi Manhas was another participant from the school. Meanwhile, the Principal of the School, Shalini Bhakri appreciated the young students for their achievement and thanked the parents for their support and encouragement.
State handball meet from Feb 11 Sports Reporter JAMMU, Feb 5: Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association shall be conducting State Championship at Mini Stadium Parade here from February 11 to February 13 involving teams from various districts and clubs of the state. The competition, sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council, shall take place on league-cum-knockout basis. The organising committee has invited entries from the interested clubs and district units which should reach the venue on or before February eight, a handout issued here today said.
Daffodils Care Convent Play way students bring laurles et report JAMMU, Feb 5: The students of Daffodils Care Convent Play way School, Jain Bazar blossomed in the J&K State Shito Ryu Karate Championship 2014 organised by Sei Kosho Shorei Kai Karate Association of J&K at Satya Public School Channi Himmat. The students of Daffodils Care Convent Play Way School participated under the guidance of Shikha Puri (Principal) and Vinay Babbar (Instructor). The little fighters exhibited their skills and brought laurels to the school. The gold medal winner was Sarthak, the silver medal winners were Reet Dutta and Arabh Shukla and the bronze medal winners were Kritin Verma, Madhuram Arora, Anmol Khajuria and Aarav Jain. The medalists were congratulated for their exceptional performance by Management of Daffodils Care Convent Play Way School.
Refresher Course in Business Studies concludes in JU
et report JAMMU, Feb 5: The three week refresher course in Business Studies (ID) organized by Academic Staff College, University of Jammu concluded today in The Business School. Professor R C Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow was the Chief Guest during the Valedictory function. Professor Sobti in his address to the participants emphasized on the principles of becoming an excellent teacher. He said that teachers should not limit their knowledge building to their respective subject domain but should aim at boundry less learning. To inspire the students, a teacher should focus on Sandhya, Satsang, Swadhya and Seva that is the foundation of learning. Professor Rajinder Gupta, Director, Academic Staff College, University of Jammu in his address appreciated the smoothly execution and the conduct of the programme. Earlier Professor Versha Mehta, Director, The Business School in her welcome address said that the programme has met the expectations of the participants and various eminent resource persons were invited to deliver informative lectures. Professor Sameer Gupta, The Business School read the rappaureteur report and presented the formal vote of thanks. The participants of the refresher course comprised of faculty members from the field of management, economics and commerce and represented various university departments as well as colleges.
