| Legal Metrology team penalizes 6 violators | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, May 20: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Kathua has realized Rs 11500 penalty from six traders after they were found violating various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act during a surprise market inspection conducted here today. A team of LMD, led by Assistant controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay Verma conducted intensive checking of business establishments at Main Bazar Kathua, Jakhbar , Hatli , Chadwal and adjoining areas. During the inspection a number of shops were inspected and a penalty of Rs 11500/- was imposed on six traders for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act. The Department also booked one gas Agency at Chadwal for possession and Sale of underweight LPG Cylinder and using defective Electronic weighing machine for weighing of LPG Cylinders and recovered Rs 10000/- as fine. Besides this, Department directed all the traders to use only verified Weights and Measures for Business transactions and display MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Consumer care Number on the Commodities to be sold in package Form and also warned the traders to desist from using unfair trade practices. |
