| Kishtwar Road Project worth Rs 376 Lakhs delayed | | KPCC fails to compensate damages | | Bivek Mathur Jammu, May 20: The unplanned excavation of a PMGSY Parna-Bunda road which is about 4.50 Kilometers stretch in the Inderwal constituency of the Kishtwar district has led to a dispute between the residents of the area and the executing company JKPCC owing to which the road project at the cost of Rs 376 Lakhs is being delayed and is likely to miss its estimated date of completion. The road (4.5 Kmts) (Stage -II) package number JK04-73 was started in May 2010 with an estimated cost of Rs 376.00 Lakhs by the executing company-JKPCC for which a commutative fund of Rs 131.80 Crores were released out of which work at the cost of Rs 90 Lakhs were done up to ending 2013 and during 2013-14, another part of the work was completed at the cost of Rs. 61 lakhs making commutative ending of Rs 151 Lakhs up to 3/2014. Earth work on the first Kilometer stretch of the road was completed whereas the work on the second portion was completed by 95% and on the third kilometer of the road, only 70% of the earth work is completed. As far as C.D works of the road is concerned, only 1st Kilometer portion of the road is completed with the CD work and no scupper has been completed in this portion of the road. The rest of the work which is awaiting construction is held up as house owners in the 3rd Kilometer portion are not allowing further excavation work for want of payments of compensation of damages to the houses due to blasting near their houses. Similar to this, numbers of other projects in the Inderwal constituency of the Bhaderwah district are awaiting completion in due course of time due pendency of compensation cases. |
