BARAMULLA, May 20: Dead body of a teenage, who went missing on May 6, has been found on the banks of famous Wullar Lake in Bandipora district on Tuesday. According to sources, The body of teenaged Fahim Asgar, who was believed to have slipped into a stream in state's summer capital Srinagar on May 6, was fished out on Tuesday from Wullar lake by locals. "Body was found by people of Laharwalpora on the banks of Wullar," about 60 kms from Fahim's residence in Old City's Nawpur, is located on the banks of the lake in Bandipora district" a senior police official said. 3-year-old Fahim, was believed to have slipped into the Nawpur-Babedemb stream on the evening of May 6. On Thursday last week Indian Navy's specially trained deep divers, Marcos, joined operations in Nawpur locality of Old City to search the missing boy. "A team of river police and Marcos fished out his body from the lake in Bandipora district," he said. His distressed parents had said the boy was afraid of going near water bodies and had suspected kidnapping. His father Firdous Ahmad identified Fahim's body. The mysterious disappearance of the boy had triggered protests in the area. Police had also flashed details of the missing boy and constituted search teams to visit hotels and guest houses in the city. Meanwhile in another incident Police on Tuesday has started an initial investigation which has revealed that the militant organization Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) is involved in the killing of Sopore undergraduate student. According to sources that Unidentified gunmen had shot dead an undergraduate student Abid Akbar (20) S/O Muhammad Akbar Wani of Krankshivan colony of Sopore Tehsil in North Kashmir's Baramulla District two days ago. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir, Ghulam Hasan Bhat told that Abid was having affiliation with militants in the past. "Early investigations have revealed that he was killed on the instructions of LeT commander Muzafar Molvi as militants doubted his integrity and they had felt that Abid was in league with local army unit," He further added that before putting him to the death Abid was in the custody of militants from two days. |
