| UDHAMPUR, June 29: Locals led by Sarpanch and Panch of Galiote Panchayat of block Pancheri staged a protest against the authorities for not giving employment to the deserving youth of the area in the Sawalakote Hydroelectric project. The protesters raising slogans against the construction companies demanded that first priority in the employment should be given to local youth. Protesting locals said that Sawalakote project is being constructed by three companies including HCC, SPASS from Turkey and Norway, however, these construction companies are giving employment to outsiders only and not to locals. Sarpanch Surjeet Singh, Sarpanch Jeewan Sharma, Sarpanch Rajinder Sharma, Sarpanch Baldev Singh, Naib Sarpanch Vinod Singh, Panch Saif Din, Panch Madan Gopal, Panch Kartar Singh and Panch Romesh Singh were among those who were part of the protest. |
