In valley's remote tourist destinations, JKTDC loots tourists
Corporation's Zayiqa restaurant at Achabal serves 'beyzayiqa' food

Anantnag, June 29: Even as valley witnesses heavy tourist rush, the restaurants of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) in South Kashmir have resorted to loot and have been found serving low quality meals to its customers at higher rates in Achabal and Kokernag area.
Sources said that employees of the corporation at both the tourist destinations have resorted to mal practices and looting the customers.
About the quality of food stuff especially the Wazwan being served to customers in Achabal and Kokernag, Early Times has received several complaints of not only from the national visiting tourists but also from locals.
"Yesterday evening I along with my friends visited Achabal. In the market we felt that the restaurant of JKTDC might be serving best quality of meals but after once we ordered to Biryani who found the actual form of 'Kawa Biryani'." Shabir Ahmad, an Anantnag resident said, adding the quality of the Biryani was worrying.
"Believe me we found Rice in the Birani but couldn't find Chicken it was just like Kashmiri 'Raseh-Bateh' Rice mixed with oil." He said.
On enquiring the manger of the restaurant accepted that the quality of the Biryani was not up to the level and disclosed that the cook they have in the restaurant don't know how to make Biryani.
He said that without tasting the foodstuff we through it in the dustbin and ordered Rogan Josh- dish of Kashmiri Wazwan but its quality was too low besides less in quantity. "Usually where ever you go in Kashmir in a single plate of Rogan Josh fours pieces of mutton are being provided but it was different as they provided only two pieces," he said.
Early Times learnt from reliable sources that the restaurant Manager, Fayaz Ahmad a resident of Bijbehara is in league with the officials.
Several locals said that Situation was too grim in Kokernag were the quality and quantity of the food stuff in JKDC owned restaurant besides in private hotels is worst than of Achabal.
Sources said that Food and safety wing of the CAPD department has not bothered to check the quality of the food being served in the JKTDC owned restaurants while as the tourism department floats in the same boat. Managing director of the Corporation (JKTDC) when contacted promised to look into the matter. However, Food inspector of the CAPD department couldn't be contacted despite repeated attempts.
