budgam, June 29:With the tourism related activities at its peak in the valley, Budgam district is high and dry despite have tremendous tourism potential. With the government in no mood to strengthen the tourism sector in the district, it deprives the people to improve their economic condition. The government hasn't adopted an effective tourism policy as far as this district is concerned. "Doodpathri, which is a famous tourist spot in the Budgam district, has been the victim of the official apathy as this nature's wonder hasn't got a fair deal. This beautiful place was shorn of lush green trees by the persons who were after the wealth," said Ghulam Qadir from Kremshore, Budgam. According to him the cutting down of the lush green trees in huge numbers has marred the beauty of this place. The government, he said has done nothing over the years to restore its glory. Poor tourism policy of the government has worsened the condition of this tourist spot. Some people who shared their views with Early Times at Khan Sahib Budgam said that Doodpathri has nothing to offer as the infrastructure required at a tourist place is totally missing. This group of people said that lack of infrastructure has adversely affected the tourism related activities. They also blamed the present coalition government for its failure to improve the road infrastructure which leads to Doodpathri. They said there isn't any facility like hotels, guest houses, huts and parking lots which would have ensured a sustained tourist flow to this place which otherwise seems to be a mesmerizing place as if carved by the God himself. Yusmarg is another place of great tourism potential from the district which also has lost its glory on account of the negligence of the people in power. This district, as per the people, has failed to get the attention of the governments and the present government didn't give fair deal to this district on the developmental fronts and the people associated with the tourism have suffered the most. According to these people, Budgam district didn't progress despite the fact it is represented by those people who have been in corridors of power since a long time. Not only this, these people enjoy the support of the high command of the party. These people ask as to what is preventing these representatives of the district to advocate its problems. |
