| Candidates from 'polling' areas being preferred over 'boycotting' areas | | Parties finalizing candidates with caution | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, June 29 : As the process of announcing candidates for upcoming assembly elections has already begun in Jammu and Kashmir, political parties fearing repeat of Lok Sabha Poll pattern boycott are choosing out their candidates very carefully and cautiously. While talking to members of political affairs committees (PAC) of regional political parties of Kashmir, it was learnt that keeping in view the possibility of poll Boycott as the one that occurred during recently concluded parliamentary elections, preference is being given to those expected candidates who can attract voters to the booths. Talking to Early Times, a youth leader of a political party said that expected candidates are thoroughly scrutinized and ground reports are sought from the areas before announcing the name of a candidate. He said that at the time of announcing the names, those who belong to vote casting areas are preferred over those who belong to boycott areas. "We have many constituencies where we have not announced our candidates yet and reason behind halting the process is only that we are seeking ground reports about the aspirants" said a political leader who is member of PAC of his party. He also said that in each constituency we have four to six aspirants in panel including the sitting MLA but in keeping in view the poll boycott mayhem which occurred during parliamentary elections across the Kashmir we are hesitant to announce one name among the six worker who are already in panel as our candidate to contest elections" he said. PAC members alike said that they have decided to finalize the process of finalizing the names candidates within one week and then after that poll campaigning would be started formally across Jammu and Kashmir.
