REASI, June 29: Roshan Lal Sharma of J&K Police clinched the 2nd Annual Bhabber Dangal title defeating Rahil of Amritsar in Punjab in a neck of neck of contest at village Bhabber in district Reasi.
Winner and runner-up wrestlers of the top bout were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively by chief guest, president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma who was accompanied by general secretary District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and president of Bhabber Dangal Committee, Shashi Kumar.
Dangal was organized by Bhabber Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Around 88 wrestlers drawn from within and outside the state participated in the day-long dangal. In all, 46 bouts were decided. The second main bout won by Ranjeet of Ludhiana who defeated Rajan of Banaras (Uttar Pradesh). Chinni of Banaras secured the third bout beating Babba of Kot Bhalwal while fourth bout went to Mohd. Sadiq of Domana Akhara after he defeated Babber of Merrut.
The fifth bout clinched by Arjun of Amritsar who defeated Murad Ali of Domana and the sixth bout bagged by Bittu of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi outplaying Shamsher Singh of Merrut. Sarpanch Bodh Raj and Headmaster Balbir Singh were guests of honour. Prominent among others present were Bittu Raina, Master Ali Akbar Khan, Om Parkash Verma, Jyoti Parkash, Sagar Chand and Sanjay Kumar.
Members and technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of the event included Shashi Kumar (president), Mohan Lal Dogra, Panch Som Dutt, Gulam Nabi, Ram Krishan, Gul Mohd., Rattan Lal, Panch Kaku Ram, Mohd.Sadiq, Sanjay Kumar, Chuni Lal, Numberdar Subash Chander, Sarpanch Bodh Raj, Mohan Lal Sharma, Mohd. Fareed, Om Parkash Verma, Bittu Raina, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd.), Subedar (Retd.) Tulbinder Kumar, Master Ram Krishan, Master Ali Akbar and Manjoor Hussain.
