Soz visits GMC&H, meets injured of border firing | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 12: To express solidarity with the victims affected by Pakistan firing on International Border (IB), President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and Member of Parliament Prof. Saifuddin Soz today visited Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu to meet the injured persons because of border firing. Accompanied by senior leaders of the party, Prof Soz straightway went to GMC&H from Airport to enquire about the condition of injured people. Principal Medical College Dr Ghansham and Superintendent Dr. Ram Rattan briefed Prof. Soz about the condition of the injured persons and the treatment & other facilities being extended to them. Prof Soz asked the Hospital authorities to provide best medicare facilities to the injured persons. After enquiring about the availability of funds for the purpose, Prof Soz offered to provide an amount of Rs 10 Lakh out of his MPLAD for provision of essential medicines and medical facilities for their proper treatment and recovery. Prof Soz also held a meeting with senior party leaders from the border areas of Kathua, Samba, and Jammu Rural which have been affected by the recent firing across the border. Later Prof Soz left to meet the affected people who are putting in different Camps in Birpur, Bishnah and RS Pura area. Earlier, interacting with media persons, PCC Chief strongly condemned the Pakistan firing resulting into loss of precious lives and injuring a large number of people in the recent days. He said that Congress party has always advocated the cause of border residents like providing of alternative accommodation in safer zones for these border migrants. He said that provision of 5 marlas plot and other basic amenities in such areas have been recommended by State Government, besides providing of financial assistance at par those killed in militant related incidents. Prof Soz also took review of the relief measures for the rains and flood affected people and demanded the Govt. of India should immediately provide adequate funds as recommended by State Govt. in order to rehabilitate the affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. He regretted that so far Central Govt. has not declared it as Natural Disaster.
