Geelani, other separatists were also on the same boat | Assembly polls | | Neha
JAMMU, Oct 12: Pakistani agent and enemy of Kashmiri Muslims Syed Ali Shah Geelani has, as expected, opposed the suggestion that elections to the J&K Legislative Assembly be held on due dates. Geelani & Co has been opposing electoral and democratic exercises since decades now, but the Kashmiri Muslims always disregarded his diktats and participated in electoral exercises in large numbers, leave aside a few pockets here and there in the Valley proper. Even the international community has appreciated this fact and on several occasions said that all the electoral exercises after 1996 were free and fair and the people elected those by whom they wanted themselves to be represented in the Assembly and Parliament. The fact of the matter is that Geelani has nothing else to do except to issue statements to remain in the news and that all the political parties, barring the ruling NC, have expressed the view that the devastation caused by the floods could not be an excuse for postponing elections to the Assembly. Even the NC, which three days ago told the visiting team of the Election Commission that time was not opportune for holding elections in view of the prevailing situation in the state, on Saturday announced that it was prepared to participate in the elections if held on due dates. Of course, there are potent reasons to believe that the election Commission is likely to delay elections by three to four months and there are unconfirmed reports to this effect emanating from New Delhi. In any case, elections will be held and new government will be in place in 2015. There should be no doubt in this regard. Hence, what Geelani & Co say about the upcoming Assembly polls is not significant. This shameless trader of Kashmiri lives will go on saying what he has been saying since years now to please his Pakistani masters and get some media coverage. However, this time he stooped too low to make his point. Opposing the elections, he said: "When floods hit Kashmir pro-India politicians disappeared from the scene and did nothing to save people, nor did they play any role in reaching out to the affected people with relief and aid. Now when the elections are nearing, they have started to come out from their hides and are showing 'fake love and affection' for the people who were 'left to die in floods'. Preparing for the elections in this situation has exposed the unkind face of New Delhi towards Kashmiris". He says the pro-India politicians disappeared from the scene when their presence was needed the post. He does a make a point when he says so. After all, it is a fact, that almost all the ministers, all the Kashmiri politicians, all the bureaucrats and police officials disappeared from the scene or fled away to safer places for their lives. But what about Geelani, Mirwaiz, Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah and other so-called freedom fighters and champions of the Kashmiri Muslims? They were also not on the scene. Geelani and Malik who sought and got the help of the Army to save their dirty lives and other Kashmiri separatists resurfaced only after the Army and the NDRF had done the job and the flood waters receded. That these so-called champions of the Kashmiri cause were not seen for almost two weeks after the floods ravaged parts of the Valley is a well known fact and they cannot befool the people of the Valley any longer. Those who left the Kashmiri Muslims to their fate during the time of crisis have no moral right to accuse the political class and bureaucracy of abandoning the people. |
