60 posts, including 16 of doctors vacant in DH Kishtwar | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Oct 12: Kishtwar District Hospital that caters the vast area including the areas from neighboring Himachal Pradesh state and Gandoh and Thatri of Doda District having a population of over four lacs is lacking proper staff. There are 60 different posts laying vacant in the hospital including 16 posts of general category doctors and four posts of doctors under NRHM. As per an official document the copy of which is available with Early Times, 60 different posts are lying vacant in District Hospital Kishtwar including 10 posts of Medical Officers, one post of consultant Dentist, two posts of consultant Gynecologist, one post of consultant Pediatric (Child specialist), consultant Pathologist, consultant Dermatologist and consultant Anesthesia. Meanwhile, three doctors (Medical Officers) namely Dr. Meenu Gupta, Dr. Sanjay Gupta are unauthorizedly absent from their duties with effect from 07-09-2013, while Dr. Utra Sambyal was absent from duty from 29-10-2013, but till then no disciplinary or any other action has been initiated against these unauthorized absentees doctors. Moreover four Medical Officers who were posted couple of months ago are yet to join their duties in the Hospital. Four posts of Doctors under NHRM quota are also lying vacant in the hospital. It was not only doctors posts are lying vacant in District Hospital Kishtwar, several Paramedical posts including that of Senior Theater Assistant, Junior Theater Assistant, Junior Grade Nurses, Head Pharmist, Blood Bank Technician, ECG Technician, Plumber, Dobi sweepers are lying vacant in the Hospital causing lot of inconvenience to the management to cater heavy rush of patients in the hospital. The Hospital is also without ENT Specialist. The medical supply received by the Hospital for the year 2014 is nominal as compared to the original requirement. An official said that hospital received no supply of emergency drugs, beside no X ray and CAT Scan films were provided to the hospital out of government stores. The sources said that Hospital received only three month medical supply against 12 months as a result of which Hospital faces lot of problems during emergency services. The sources said that hospital authorities purchased approximately Rs. 2.50 lacs worth medicines out of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) provided by the MLA Kishtwar to cater emergency services of the hospital due to lack of supply from the government. "We receive only good supply of chlorine tablets and even if we distributed them among whole population of Kishtwar, the maximum stock of chlorine will leave with us" said a Hospital employee preferring anonymity. He said that Hospital management even supplied chlorine tablets to flood affected areas of Kashmir, added that still a large quantity of stock remains left in the hospital. The hospital also lacks canteen facility as a result of which the hospital staff as well as the patients and their attendants suffered for the want of food, particularly during night hours. There is also need for opening of Medical shop within the Hospital premises. It is pertinent to mention that approximately 90000 patients visited different OPDs of the Hospital till September end while 350 major surgeries and 3404 minor surgeries including 1685 dental surgeries were performed in the hospital this year. |
