2 hurt as Pak again targets BSF posts, villages along IB

Jammu, Oct 12: Pakistan again shelled Indian posts and villages along the International Border (IB) here, resulting in injuries to two persons.
"The Pak Rangers targeted 15 border outposts (BoPs) along the IB overnight, resulting injuries to three persons in Jammu district," official sources said.
BSF troops retaliated effectively and intermittent firing and mortar shelling was continuing when last reports came in.
Sources said after heavy firing, Pakistani Rangers resorted to heavy mortar shelling in Arnia and parts of R S Pura sectors of Jammu district overnight.
He said that about 15 BoPs were targeted by the Rangers who also shelled several border villages resulting in injuries to three. One of them, who sustained injuries at Jabowal, was identified as Surjeet Kumar, son of Gurdas Chand of Jabowal. He was hospitalised.
The shelling hit Arnia town besides villages of Kuku-Da Kothay, Mahasha Kothe, Jabowal, Treva, Chingia, Alla, Sie, Chenaz and Devigarh.Dozens of shells landed and exploded in deserted Arnia town, the sources added.
However, there was no firing in forward regions of Samba, Ramgarh, Hiranagar and Kathua. Meanwhile, a live shell was found in the house of Mohinder Lal at Jabowal which was later defused by the forces.
Yesterday, Pakistani troops had resorted to firing on forward Indian posts along the LoC in Banwat-Shahpur sector of Poonch
Pakistan had heavily shelled civilian areas in Shahpur, Kirni, Banwat, Mandaar and Kalsaam along LoC in Poonch.
The Pak troops of 641 Mujahid regiment had also shelled six posts in Poonch. Five houses suffered minor damages while one caught fire in the area but there was no casualty.
The IB this month witnessed heavy firing that left eight persons dead and 90 others injured, including 13 security men.Besides over 32,000 people have fled their border homes, leaving 130 hamlets deserted along the IB.
