Meeting held at Kathua

Kathua, Oct 12: To discuss the problems being faced by labour and workers in various factories, in Kathua district a meeting was held.
According to press release, the meeting was organized by Ankur Sharma and his team on the invitation of locals and workers of the industrial area at Baani Market Railway Road Kathua.
Addressing the meeting Sharma assured of legal and organizational help to the workers in the formation of a Worker's Union to fight against the exploitation meted out to them on day today basis.
Many of the problems of the Industry viz Contractor System, low wages, contractual labor, and problems related to bonus were discussed. People were educated about their fundamental rights to form legal associations. They were also apprised as to how to fight injustice individually through legal means.
Further taking the cause of Pollution being emanated by these Industrial units in violation of Pollution norms, Ankur discussed the prospects of taking the matter to the High Court as non-availability of clean air and clean water is a violation of Article 21 of the constitution.
"The High Court in its original jurisdiction can take up the matter though the route of a Public Interest Litigation", Ankur told the meeting.
Further he assured the workers of busting any unholy Management-Police-Administration nexus through all legal means and encouraged them to put their act together and get united to form a Union as early as possible. Many workers from the nearby factories such as CTM, Satyam and other were gathered to voice out their discontentment against the prevailing system.
