Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 12: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Chief Minister to regularize the services of all daily wagers/casual/seasonal laborers engaged in the various departments of the State Government after March 1994 and urged to announce the pending two installments of 17 percent DA due from January and July this year in favor of State Govt. employees and pensioners well before Diwali festival.
Addressing rally of NMC activists at Rani Park, Shastri urged the government to take decision before the enforcement of model code of conduct for the ensuing elections of the state Assembly, so that confusion and uncertainty among the working class in this vital issue will come to end. He said that new regularization policy become operational from 1st November 2014 as gift to working class and hoped that chief Minister sympathetically considered the demands of daily rated workers and make announcement in this regard at the earliest adding that this would be major issue on the forthcoming election state assembly.
Shastri claimed that these workers had not been getting their wages continuously for many years and their working conditions were dismal, beside regularizing the services of these workers ,the state Govt. should also provide all perks and allowances available to the Central Govt. to these workers, including pensioner benefits. Shastri further demanded that monthly emoluments should be raised to Rs. ten thousand per month in view of sharp increase of prices of essentials commodities and inflation.
