Congress demands adequate compensation to farmers

JAMMU, Oct 12 : Senior Congress leader and former General Secretary Youth Congress leader Kapil Singh today urged the state government for conducting an exhaustive survey to assess the severe loss to paddy and other crops in Marh assembly constituency due to recent storm and hailstorm.
The Congress leader, who toured several villages in Phallain Mandal area of Marh segment, interacted with the affected farmers and listened to their grievances.
Singh was informed that paddy, maize and other crops have been impacted by strong winds and heavy hailstorm last week, causing great loss to farming community.
The farmers informed that they had already suffered extensive loss to their property due to worst-ever floods and the recent hailstorm and storm has broken the backbone of farmers.
He also demanded that the affected farmers should be compensated adequately so that their families don't face any kind of hardship.The Congress leader was accompanied by Vikram Singh, Balwant Singh, R.P. Sharma Mohd. Siddiq, Janak Raj.
