JAMMU, Oct 12: Shrine Bill for the protection, preservation and management of the temples and shrines in Kashmir is the consensus demand of exiled Kashmiris. This was stated by leaders, intellectuals and activists of the community at the convention held at the K P Sabha Ambphalla. The convention endorsed the work done by the Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) and pledged full support to the PNBMT to carry the struggle forward till the shrine bill is passed and a democratic Shrine Board is elected and takes over the management of the temples and shrines of Kashmir.Earlier, spokesperson Dr R L Bhat presenting the resume of activities of PNBMT for the passage of the bill told the audience that the trust had conducted 153 meeting in all the nooks and corners of Jammu including the camps to mobilize the opinion for the bill. PNBMT had also held a dozen huge public meeting at Shardaa Peeth Bantablab, Gosian Gund Ashram, Gangyal and K P Sabha to press for the passage of the bill.PNBMT held dharnas, protest marches and used other democratic and peaceful means to press the consensus demand of the exiled Kashmiris to get the shrine bill passed . He said unlike the half a dozen bills passed by the legislature putting various temples in Jammu division under the nominated boards, the Shrine bill was the only bill that did not give the management of the temples to the government. PNBMT had met most of the cabinet ministers, political leaders, including CM Omar Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mahbooba Mufti, Prof Bhim Singh, Harsh Dev Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami, and others asking their support for the passage of the shrine bill and all of them had assured their support. |
