Pakistan likely to continue ceasefire violation until Diwali

New Delhi, Oct 12: After the guns had fallen silent since Thursday night and remained so on Friday after nine days of ceasefire violation, Pakistan again on Saturday resumed firing targetting dozens of border posts in poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a leading daily, people close to security establishment believe that Pakistan may continue unprovoked firing along the International Border and LoC till Diwali later this month.At least eight civilians have been killed on the Indian side and 52 injured in the ongoing round of cross-border firings.
In the fresh violations of ceasefire on Saturday morning, two BSF jawans were among four persons injured when Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire for the third time in less than 48 hours by firing with small arms, automatic weapons and mortar shells on 10 border out posts and civilian areas along the International Border in Jammu district."Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing from small arms and automatic weapons on border out posts and civilian areas along the IB in Arnia sub-sector in Jammu district from around 2030 hours late last night," a BSF officer said here today.BSF troops guarding the borderline along IB took positions and retaliated to the Pakistani firing which resulted in intermittent exchanges of fire, he said.
