Ganderbal, Poonch win opening ties | Inter-district U-19 boys' cricket tourney of DYSS | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Oct 18: District Ganderbal and Poonch won the inaugural matches to move into the next round of the inter-district under-19 boys' cricket tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at twin venues, here today. In the first match, Ganderbal trounced district Anantnag by a margin of seven runs while Poonch registered a fine six wickets win against district Reasi. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Vice Principal of Government Degree College Kathua, Pushap Kant Rao, who was chief guest. In all, 16 teams drawn from as many districts of the state are taking part in this knock-out competition under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Samba, Subash Chander Bhardwaj. The participating teams are Kulgam, Pulwama, Budgam, Kathua, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Reasi (Pool-A), Samba, Udhampur, Poonch, Reasi, Baramulla, Kishtwr, Jammu and Doda (Pool-B). |
