Sumit Sharma Jammu, Oct 18: After the Vigilance sleuths today made a surprise visit to the office of Chief Education Officer (CEO) here, many of the employees escaped from the office to avoid questioning. However, during preliminary scrutiny of the records, sleuths allegedly found various discrepancies. As per official sources, many demi-official letters of some Ministers, except Deputy Chief Minister, in the Omar-led coalition government were found attached with the files of their favourites to be appointed. These were seized. This puts a question mark on the so called transparency in recruitment process. During scrutiny it was also found that about 400 odd employees have been attached with the CEO, Jammu office at the behest of the Ministers. " So far it has been found that out of 40 marks in viva voca, those aspirants who are backed with the demi-official letters have allegedly been given maximum marks, making platform for the blue-eyed", an official based on the anonymity said. Vigilance team consisted of Inspectors V K Bhat, Himmat Singh, Ashok Jasrotia and Kamal Sangra. The raid was conducted under the supervision of SSP, Vigilance, on the basis of complaints that most of the aspirants for the Class-IV employees in Education Department, Jammu were not considered against their categories and their names were shown in open merit in the selection list, due to which they could not be selected for the said posts. It has been alleged in the complaint that CEO, Jammu, has kept 40 points for viva instead of 20 points and has violated rules and regulations to confer undue benefit to the favourite candidates and has thus abused his official position. There are other complaints also which allege that bunglings have been committed in the selection process of Class IV employees in Education Department, Jammu. On the basis of these complaints, a Joint Surprise check was conducted by Vigilance Organization and officers of education department in the CEO's office. The relevant record pertaining to the selection process was seized. It was being scrutinized by Vigilance Organization, Jammu, to verify the veracity of allegations. |
