Police claim arrest of Al-Badr militant from Sopore | | | Syed Tahir Bukhari
BARAMULLA, Oct 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested a militant of Al-Badr outfit from Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district today. According to sources Special Operation Group (SOG) of police with the assistance of 52 RR, held a militant Irfan Ahmad Bhat alias Ira son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Panzipora Tarzoo, of Sopore area. "Against which case FIR number 153/2014 under section 7/25 I.A Act dated 18-10-2014 stands registered in Police Station Tarzoo. A pistol and a pistol magazine were recovered from his possession, a senior police official said. Official said that, "The local boy was motivated and recruited into the Al-Badr outfit by District Commander Muzaffar Ahmad Naikoo alias Muza Molvi son of Abdul Majeed Naikoo resident of Baghat Sopore, with an intention of building a network of Al-Badr operatives for the execution actions in and around Sopore". He said after being indoctrinated with Jihadi ideology and positioned into the said militant outfit, the militant was assigned with various tasks of couriering the weapons and money, identifying the targets vis-a-vis security installations and carry out the grenade attacks on VIP rallies, police and security forces on the directions of said commander, Muza Molvi. The involvement of said militant in other subversive actions is being investigated. Police have requested the parents to keep a close look at over their children and keep them away from these elements. However on anonymity condition, another police official told Early Times that on May 14, they received information that at least six youth in the age group of 22-25 have gone missing from Sopore and Pattan thesils of Baramulla district. "In the month of May at least six qualified youth had joined militant outfit like Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba in North Kashmir's Baramulla district, three of them belonged to Sopore and rest of them are from Pattan. Meanwhile on Oct 11, the army's Srinagar-based15 Chinar Corps Commander, Lt General Subrata Saha, had told reporters on the sidelines of a blood donation camp in Baramulla district of north Kashmir that the trend of educated youth joining militancy is disturbing and all security agencies need to pay 'special attention' towards it. "Initiatives should be taken so that youth would be constantly engaged towards future. He had said that initiatives towards building the future of youths should be taken by all and army will also try to do collaborative efforts in this regard. |
