Kishtwar, Doda students protest against postponement of exams
Demand withdrawal of Govt decision

Kishtwar, Oct 18:- Hundreds of students today registered strong protest against government decision of postponing the examinations till March. The students from Boys Higher Secondary School and Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar raised slogans against the government and demanded withdrawal of a recent govcernment order that posponed the examinations in flood hit Kashmir Valley and winter zone of Jammu region till March 2015.
The students were pacified by timely intervention of Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Javed Khan . Talking to Early Times, the agitating students termed the government decision as "Murderous" and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
They said that the situation is conducive for holding examination in winter zone of Jammu Division comprising Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch and parts of Reasi District. They added that the government decision if implemented will ruin their future and can spoil the precious one year of the students. They said that in case the examination will be held in March-April, many students will not be able to sit in prestigious entrance examination like AIEEE, JKCET and other important National reputed tests. They said that many universities close their admissions for the peiod during which government plans to hold examination in the state.
"Our hearts beat for the students of Kashmir Division who suffered due to flood furry in Kashmir--- but this doesn't mean that government will play with the future of students of Jammu Division" said an angry student, adding that "our one year will go waste if exams will be conducted in March-- we will not get any time to prepare our self for various competitive exams". President Masters/Teachers association Mehboob Qazi while talking to Early Times said that being as a father he will support the demand of the students. "March-April season is not conducive for holding any examination in Kishtwar District as many areas like Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan, Machail and other hilly areas remains covered with 10 to 15 feet of snow," he said.
"Last year in areas like Marwah and Warwan schools open in the first week of May as the area remains covered with snow" said Mehboob Qazi. He said that many areas of Kishtwar and Doda Districts remains cut off during this period due to heavy snowfall. He on behalf of the students of winter zone of Jammu Division urged upon the government to reconsider its decision on postponement of examination. Congress MLA from Inderwal, Ghulam Moh-ammad Saroori in a press statement issued today also criticizes the government for shifting the examination session from November-December to March-April. Meanwhile similar protest was also held at old Bus Stand Doda on the call of protest given by Chenab Group of Civil Society supported by several social and non political organization including Bar Association Doda, AISF and traders associations. The students threaten to intensify the protest in case the government fails to hold examination on dates fixed prior to postponement of decision.
