Jammu, Oct 18: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts, University of Jammu (JU) today clinched the annual inter-college men's football title trophy outplaying Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) 5-2 in the final at JU grounds, here. Superb game played by Ayush, who stuck twice in the 18th and 29th minute, helped the side take unbeatable 4-0 lead in the first half of the play. However, ASCOMS, firing on all cylinders, fought back after the breather and managed to reduce the margin netting two back to back goals. Both the goals came through Syed Shahaan in the 40th and 46th minute. Matured enough, the senior side of PG Arts slowed down their game to tackle the opponent aggression. The strategy turned out to be favourable and in the 51st minute PG Arts scored yet another goal through Gagandeep Singh to finally make it 5-2 score on the board. From PG Arts, Raza (25th) and Dilbar (31st) were other scorers. The final officiated by the technical penal comprising Ricky, Aman Banathia, Dheeraj Kumar, and Taran Pal Singh. The final besides others was witnessed by the Vice Chancellor, JU, Prof MPS Ishar, who stayed back for full duration of the match. Vice Chancellor, who was also chief guest in the all important game, congratulated the finalist teams for their fighting spirits before he awarded the winners' trophy to PG Arts. He also complimented Director Sports, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau and JU football coach, Gagan Kumar for the successful conduct of mega event. Also present were Principal, ASCOMS, Dr R P Kudyar, Jai Kumar Sharma, Vikesh Kumar, Gautam Sharma, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, PD Singh, Jai Bharat, Dr Brij Baloria, Ramesh Sharma and HS Chib. |
