NHPC workers demonstrate, warn authorities to dilute labour laws | | | Jammu/Reasi, Oct 28: A large number of workers staged a protest rally under the banner of All India NHPC Workers & Employees Federation at Reasi organised by Munshi Ram Salailia General Secretary Federation India. Prominent national trade unionist R C Kunitia President All India NHPC Workers & Employees Federation, Secretary AICC (I) and Ex-Member of Parliament also graced the rally during his maidebn visit to state and chaired the rally. The rally started from Ashok Thapa Chowk moving through the main bazaar of Reasi and ralliests holding banners, placards depicting demands like "Stop dilution of labour laws", "Service of contractual workers/employees be regularised", "Anganwari workers be regularised", "Stop exploitation of migrant labour" and etc marched through the various markets of Reasi town. The rally culminated at Garden Estate Resai where the leaders of the trade unions from different parts of the country addressed the gathering with a brief on demands & issues of workers in the state as well as in the country. Chairperson of rally, R C Kuntia in his address condemned the move of the central government for diluting labour laws and stressed upon the state government to ensure early solution of the burning demands of the workers all around the state. He assured the gathering to continue his support to stop the exploitation of workers. B N Jha Vice President of Federation and Munshi Ram Salalia demanded that Jammu & Kashmir government to regularize the services of all daily wagers, Anganwari workers and Contractual workers without any further delay. Among other prominent leaders who spoke in this meeting included Pritam Singh President DCC(I) Reasi, Ravi Kumar Parimoo, Vijay Kumar, Surta Singh-Vice President, Gurdayal Singh, Dewakar Jha, Vinod Upritee, Smt Bimla Salathiua, Karan Singh General Secretary Un-organised Construction sector And other allied Workers Union District Reasi etc. |
