Amidst it's over ambition of Mission 44+, BJP's MP prez goes missing | | | Kunal Shrivatsa Jammu, Oct 28: In the backdrop of Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP's) tall claims of achieving 'Mission 44+', the president of state unit of the party has sort of gone into hibernation ever since he became a Parliamentarian in May last. If BJP insiders are to be believed then a sense of dissatisfaction and resentment is growing among party leaders as well as grass root level activists against State BJP president Jugal Kishore Sharma for what they call his lack of interest and aloofness towards day to day affairs of the party. "BJP president Jugal Kishore is virtually out of bounds for workers and people at large after he got elected as Lok Sabha Member…Party rank and file is dismayed over their president's inactivity and detachment from working of the party when Assembly elections are round the corner…BJP activists want state president to be changed as soon as possible," said sources. Sources further told Early Times that BJP workers' accusations that Jugal Kishore is not paying much attention to the party affairs and remain inaccessible are not just wild allegations as the moment Jugal was chosen as MP; he put his local mobile connection on switch-off mode. "As soon as Jugal won the Jammu Parliamentary seat, the first thing he did is to switch off his mobile phone….Party activists' complaints against him gain weightage with such actions," said sources. According to sources, the local mobile number was deliberately put on switch-off mode by Jugal Kishore as now he considers himself as a VVIP and doesn't want to get disturbed by receiving calls of BJP workers and common man. "After party activists conveyed their angst against Jugal Kishore to party High Command, the Central leadership scolded him for his inaccessibility for which he made a lame excuse that he lost his phone due to which it is on switch-off mode," said sources. "Even if Jugal Kishore is speaking truth that his phone went missing, why he hasn't restored the connection till date though it can be easily done by anyone within days and if a VVIP has to obtain a duplicate SIM it wouldn't be a tough task… In reality he has switched over to a new number which he has given to only few selective people close to him," sources added. Sources further said that State BJP president has almost surrendered himself before the superiors in the Party High Command in a bid to ensure party ticket for his brother from Nagrota Assembly constituency, which Jugal Kishore represented twice in 2002 and 2008. "Jugal is trying hard to keep Central leadership in good humour as his only interest and aim these days is to secure party mandate for his younger brother otherwise by and large he is running away from the responsibility of the president for which he was chosen two years back," said sources. "Jugal just wants to complete his tenure…He is nothing more than a silent president, who is not keen to be active in state politics till the time he is an MP. On the other hand General Secretary Organization Ashok Koul is behaving like a Super President and keeping things under his firm control… Presently, Koul is ruling the roost in State BJP. However, it is a tradition in BJP that an Organizational Secretary keeps a low profile and never comes in limelight but here it is a different ball game," they added. |
