Jammu, Oct 28 : All India Co-ordinate Research Project for Dry land Agriculture, DLRSS, Rakh Dhiansar, SKUAST-J today organized one day pre-rabi training cum farmer scientist interaction meet at village Khaner of block Purmandal. According to press release, during the training 50 farmers from the Villages Khaner, Badi Khad, Khada Madana participated and interacted with DLRSS, SKUAST-J scientists regarding the latest scientific agro-techniques of cultivation of various rabi crops in the area. Scientists from different disciplines of DLRSS, SKUAST-J delivered lectures. Dr. P.K.Rai, I\c DLRSS, Rakh Dhiansar at the outset of the programme extended warm welcome to the participating farmers from the different villages of domain area. While welcoming the participants Dr. Rai enlightened farmers regarding the importance of soil testing and samplings techniques and also discussed the role of University in transfer of technologies to the farmers' field of Jammu region. Underlying the importance of rainfed agriculture, scientist stressed upon the farmers for adoption of various methods for conservation of soil moisture in the wake of erratic rainfall and aberrant weather situation, timely sowing of crops and adoption of crop varieties with minimum water requirement. It was emphasized on the farmers to adopt latest climate resilient technologies being advocated by scientists of DLRSS, SKUAST-J for increasing production and productivity of various crops in the present climate change scenario. The farmers were also advised to perform different agricultural operations by scientific methods. |
