'Pay relief to shelling victims on par with BSF jawans' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 28: A PDP leader today batted for grant of ex gratia for next of the kin of victims of border shelling by Pakistan at par with the BSF jawans and other forces. "We demand ex gratia for border residents who lost their lives in firing from across the border should be treated at par with the BSF jawans and other forces," Former Rajya Sabha member and PDP candidate for Suchetgarh Assembly seat, Trilok Singh Bajwa said today. Addressing series of public meetings in Suchetgarh, Bajwa said that BSF jawans were protecting our borders by wearing uniform and the border residents were also doing the same without the uniform. "There should be no discrimination with men in uniforms and residents of border areas because both of them are doing the same job," Bajwa said. He further demanded that government should bear expenditure of treatment for those border residents who have been injured in the shelling from across the border. Bajwa alleged that some injured residents have lost their lives due to non available of proper treatment. While listing woes of the border inhabitants, Bajwa regretted that adequate attention was not paid to their problems. He said that government should immediately identify the state land at safer place so as to allot five Marla plots to the border people. Bajwa also demanded on spot recruitment rallies in the border areas to provide jobs to the unemployed youth. He also said that benefits which are given to the residents of Line of Control (LoC) areas should be extended to the International Border (IB) areas because both the residents were facing same problems. |
