| JURSEA turns personal fiefdom of 2 persons | | `Exploited for jobs to favourites' | | Arun Singh

JAMMU, Jan 2: The Jammu University Research Scholar Executive Association (JURSEA) which is prominently a scholars' body has virtually been turned into a tool in the hands of two vested interests, who have been exploiting the body to get jobs, favours for them and their relatives adjusted in various departments in the Jammu University.
Time and again the protest demonstrations had been witnessed on various student related issues by the leaders of JURSEA but the hidden motives was always to avert some legal actions against the misdeeds committed by them and to get some favours by exerting pressure on the authority. JURSEA was basically formed for the redressal of issues related to research scholars but with the passage of time it became absolute victim in the hands some vested interests and ultimately it lost its basic purpose.
The sordid saga of the JURSEA started nearly six years ago when Vikas Sharma became its president and who started an era of protest demonstrations in Jammu University campus. Later Vikas Sharma, under a well planned conspiracy to adjust his family members, relatives and other blue eyed in the Directorate of Distance Education Jammu University and other departments, he formed another student body namely National Secular Forum (NSF) and became its president and started launching protests against DDE.
Meanwhile, he got himself associated with National Conference which was in power in the state at that time to get political support for materializing his personal interests and crushing the raising voices against him in the varsity. Taking advantage of political approach, he managed to get adjusted his blue eyeds in various department of the Jammu University by using unfair means.
Sources alleged that when he was NSF president, he targeted the then director DDE Meenakshi Kilam by lodging series of protests against her accusing the director of giving favours to some of her blue eyed in DDE by adjusting them as contractual lecturers.
Vikas Sharma continued his protests and succeeded to get adjusted a woman very close to him in the DDE as lecturer against a widow lecturer who had been working there since seven years by getting her out from the DDE to vacant the place by putting internal and external pressure on the authority concerned.
Adopting similar tactics, Vikas also managed to get himself adjusted in DDE as Assistant professor Statistics with the help of former Vice Chancellor Prof MPS Ishar and his political masters violating all norms. His adjustment in the DDE had come under scanner as toppers were virtually sidelined who had appeared in the interview as the candidates who were called for interview for the said post, Vikas had the lowest qualification percentage among them yet he succeeded to get job of Assistant professor.
Sources further maintained that he also managed to get adjusted his cousin in the DDE against a lecture serving there for four years as Education lecturer.
Vikas using NSF as a tool launched vicious campaign against her and leveled false allegation on her character and exerted pressure and compelled the authority to remove her with sole purpose to get adjusted her cousin. Using the platform of his own manufactured student body, he made a ground for the welfare of his brother Vivek Sharma and sister-in-law Ridhi Shamra and managed to get them adjusted in the varsity in various departments.
The next JURSEA president Rakesh Chib also followed the same suit of his predecessor by using same pressure tactics by launching protests against the JU authority to get favours in the shape of jobs. Having strong affiliation with National Conference, Rakesh Chib also enjoyed full support of his political masters and managed to retain the post of JURSEA president consecutively for two terms.
Taking cue from his predecessor, he also managed to get himself adjusted in the Jammu University with the help former VC Jammu University Prof MPS Ishar in a sheer violation of government order. University management on the instance of Prof Ishar conducted the interview exclusively for Rakesh Chib as his interview was conducted in 2014 when whole state was engulfed with flood and government had issued order that in such circumstances no examination and interviews would be conducted but bypassing the government order, VC got conducted the interview with sole purpose to adjust Rakesh Chib.
And now the new, JURSEA President Sukhdev Singh is also following same path of his bosses and continuing to launch malicious campaign against the JU authority and against some individuals without knowing the fact just to fulfill his nefarious designs. Pertinently, Sukhdev Singh is already under dock by violating university norms for pursuing Patwar Training and regular M Phil from Urdu Department of university of Jammu. |
