No formal invite from BJP for structured dialogue: PDP | Government formation in JK | | Bashir Assad
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 2: Even as PDP-BJP talks are going on for government formation in the state, the former Friday said that it was waiting for a formal invite from the latter for structured dialogue. Highly placed sources in PDP told Early Times this evening that though the party was talking to BJP through a point-man of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, however, BJP has not send any formal invitation for formal dialogue. Sources said that there was no denying the fact that a close confident of Mufti is in touch with BJP leadership; however, a formal dialogue has not started as yet between the parties for government formation. Sources said that the agenda of the party was also sent to BJP leadership, however, they have not responded to it as yet. They said that even as the bullet points (conditions for alliance) have been conveyed to BJP, it has not come out clear as yet on the same. He said the Chief Minister-ship was never an issue on the agenda and that it was a media creation. Sources said that the discussion is to be held on PDP agenda adding further that Chief Minister-ship was not an issue as it was the common sense that the dispensation has to be headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Meanwhile a senior PDP leader and sitting MLA on the conditions of not to be named told Early Times that there was no pressure from any quarter about not going with BJP. He said that the decision about forging any alliance will be a conscious decision. He said that decision will be based on merits. When asked that enough time was taken by the party for looking into pros and cons of a PDP-BJP alliance and that the people were suffering in absence of a popular government in place, the senior PDP leader said that the party leadership was in no hast. "Let BJP formally respond to our agenda, we will take a decision" the senior PDP leader said. The leader, however, did not rules-out imposition of Governor's rule in case the parties fail to form new government in the state before January19. The PDP leader said that if the parties fail to form a government by or before January19, the Governor's rule will become inevitable. It merits a mention here that the Governor N N Vohra has set the deadline for government formation as 19th of this month because the term of the 11th (outgoing) assembly exhausts on that day. Meanwhile BJP today said that it was in touch with both PDP and NC in Jammu and Kashmir for government formation. BJP said that it hasn't taken a final decision on alliance party in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP President Amit Shah said in New Delhi. "We have not decided on tie-up in J&K, talks are on with both the parties," Amit Shah said. BJP has bagged 25 seats - the second highest after Peoples Democratic Party that won 28 seats - in the recently-concluded assembly polls. |
